Tin Bird Publications and Author Services: Typesetting

If you are considering self-publishing your story and becoming an Indie Author, you will most likely be concerned with the quality of your book, because really, what's the point of putting something you love out there for the world to read without making it shine its brightest.

Tin Bird does Typesetting and Formatting of two types: for e-books and for print copies.

The E-Book typesetting follows Smashwords Style Guide and erases all formatting, forcing us to start from scratch. After the style is set, we create a Title Page for your book, add the dedication and acknowledgements at the beginning, as well as a bio and picture of the author at the end, and ensure that each chapter starts at the top of the page. Once the Typesetting is done, we create three versions for you to upload: one for Smashwords, which allows you to create coupons for beta readers and reviewers: one for Amazon's Kindle, and one for Barnes and Noble's Nook.

The Print typesetting and Format is another animal altogether. It takes much more time and work because of having to add section breaks, putting in blank pages at the end of some chapters, as well as adding page numbers, headers, graphics, and usually a strong first letter at the beginning of each chapter. All sections that begin a new point of view are separated, not with three dots, but with a graphic that relates to your story. We believe in creating a book that is not just enjoyable to read, but beautiful to look at. We print with Createspace by default, and you can choose to use their free ISBN number, or pay to have one listed under your publisher name.
